A Sweet Suit Remix with Sumissura

We told you we weren’t done with our Sumissura suits! We are all about that remix! We want to stretch the longevity of that suit and find as many new ways to rock it as possible. Here is how we revamped our suit pants in this sweet suit makeover!

Gail’ Suit Remix

Sweater: Reitmans  // Pants: Sumissura ( in Quinton fabric) // Shoes: Modcloth

For my straight size sisters here is a sweater option for you: Sweater

Remix, it’s a remix!  I’m back with another look for this awesome suit from Sumissura.

For look one I showcased the full suit and added a large black belt with gold buckle.  This time round I nixed the jacket and added this one shoulder knit from Reitmans. The trousers are a wide leg style and feature a tab front closure with pockets.

Once again, because Sumissura’s specialty is custom clothing you need only enter your measurements onto their website when ordering and voila, you’ll receive a perfectly tailored suit that’s size YOU!

This playful one shoulder trouser look would be perfect for a night out.  I added beautiful merlot coloured heels and a fun clutch.  See when you’ve got wardrobe workhorses like a suit, the looks that can be created are endless!

Leslie’s Suit “Pull-Up”

Pants: Sumissura // Top: Zara // Coat: Zara (Sold out online but may find in stores, similar here) // Shoes: Office (old, similar here) //

For my plus size babes: Pants (use link above as these pants are made to measure) // coat//Sweater//

The best part of any suit, if you ask me, is the fact that you can remix it to the Gods! Break it up and dress it up or down to suit your mood, an event or just because! The possibilities are almost endless!

For this look I took my suit pants (full suit shown in our previous post here) and remixed it to create a colourful look that is perfect to keep those grey skies at bay! I don’t typically go for subtle suits, but man-o-man it means you can break out all the print, colour and texture you like! As demonstrated here with this gorgeous green over coat and striped crew neck sweater.

As you can see I am about the bold colour and print mixing babes! Don’t be afraid to take that neutral palette and layer on the print and colour! Since the print of the suit pants is so subtle, I was able to pair it with a stripe for the print mix that I love, AND pull out a bold colour to pop the look!

If you’re ever not sure what colour to mix and match with, Google it! You can literally ask Google “ what colour goes with blue” and you will get a list or series of images showing you what colours go best! I knew I wanted to pair green with this look (I’m obsessed with green right now) and a stripe is a print that mixes well with almost any other print! Win-win!

I love this look as I can rock it with flats, heels, to the office or for brunch, it’s something that is so easy and comfortable to wear, but packs a punch. Switch out the shoes for flats and you can easily make this your travelling outfit (for those of you travelling these days).

All in all y’all, as you can no doubt guess from everything I said prior to this, I am ALL about a good suit remix. They work for your present life and for your future! Invest babes, and remix it to the Gods!

And that’s the long & short of it!

The Faux Leather Effect

We are simply ga ga for faux leather! From faux leather blazers, jackets, pants or skirts – you name it and we gotta have it. Check out the faux leather pieces we’re donning and how we styled them.

Leslie’s Loving Faux Leather Like…

Coat: Zara (old, similar here) // Faux Leather Blazer: Zara // Culottes: River Island (old, similar here) // Boots: Zara (old, similar here) //

For my gorgeous plus size babes: Coat // Blazer // Pants //

Faux leather is always on trend for fall/winter and each season I so love to add at least one new leather piece to my wardrobe. This season it is this beautiful faux leather blazer!

I went for this neutral brown sugar coloured double-breasted blazer because I love the colour and it goes with a ton of pieces in my closet. Whether worn as a jacket to keep the chill breezes at bay or worn just as a layering piece with an overcoat, a blazer is the perfect “multi-tasking” workhorse in my wardrobe.

Have y’all noticed that all faux leather is not created equal? This piece is great as it does not have the funky smell that faux leather can sometimes have and it feels luxurious and soft to the touch. It also does not make that scrunch scrunch sound that leather sometimes makes with each movement! How can you sneak up on anybody if they can hear you coming from a mile away?! LOL

For this look, I wanted to play with print and layering. I went for this checked overcoat that is perfect for layering. It’s oversized fit means you can wear a jacket or chunky knit underneath, and the print is eye-catching without being  too bold. Coupled with the printed culottes, it makes for a fun fall look that won’t have you falling flat.

Am I the only one that has found themselves gravitating toward more flats and lower heels over the course of this pandemic? These heeled sock boots are perfect for this look and my “pandemic life” as the heel is lower than my usual preferred heel height and they are warm and comfy too!

Gail is about that faux leather life!

Trench: ASOS Curve (old) similar here // Blazer: ASOS Curve (old) similar here // Faux leather dress: Fashion Nova // Pumps: Ally Shoes

Options for my straight size bombshell: Coat // Blazer // Dress (also available in straight sizes)

To say that I love faux leather is an understatement. I ADORE IT! From skirts to jackets to pants to skirts there simply isn’t a faux leather look that I don’t like. So, you can imagine that when I found this chocolate faux leather number I was in HEAVEN!

I bought this dress early last year with the anticipation of wearing it during the summer of 2020 aka the year that shall not be named. So, when that dream died I put it on hold until now. Listen, y’all are going to be seeing a lot of “pandemic” purchases LOL.

Anyhow, this dress is simply divine. The faux leather material has a lot of stretch and hugs all of my curves beautifully. It is midi length on me but on a taller woman the hemline would hit just below the knee. The dress has spaghetti straps with one of the straps traveling across my chest which I think is a cool little feature.

With the cool breezes of fall coming through I added this blazer to take the look from night to day. I added a belt just to cinch in my waist.

I completed my look with this patent leather carmel coloured trench. Now I’m ready to strut my stuff all season long!

And that’s the long and short of it!

Sweater Weather in Full Effect

It’s sweater weather folks and we are heating things up with some cute knit looks perfect for fall!

Gail – Head Over Heels for Knits

Vest: H&M and here // Skirt: ASOS Curve (old) similar here // Pumps: Ally Shoes // Purse: ai Toronto

For my straights size sisters: Vest (see link above) // Skirt

From pull overs to cardigans to vests, knitwear at this time of year is always a requirement and lends itself to so many layering possibilities.

Yup, it’s the layering possibilities for me. I can add button down shirts or a turtleneck beneath this bad boy or wear it all on its own as I’ve done here. This ribbed V-neck vest is so soft and not itchy. This soft knit v-neck sweater is ribbed at the neck line and armholes and is made of polyester, acrylic, wool and elastane for little stretch.

I paired this patent faux leather skirt with this vest and I love the mix of textures. This chocolate coloured skirt is a pencil style and because I’m on the short side of the height spectrum is a midi in length on moi.

I completed my look by adding this oh so lovey cognac coloured vegan leather purse for ai Toronto. I really like the versatility of this bag because I can wear as a shoulder purse or switch out the strap and I’ve got myself a crossbody number.

Leslie’s Feelin’ Flawless in Sequins!

Sweater: Chicwish (old, similar here)// Pants: Zara (sold out, similar here, here, here) //

For my plus size beauties: Sweater, Sweater, Sweater, Sweater // Pants //

So let me start by confessing that I have a lil bit of an obsession with sequins! There is just something about that sparkle that puts a smile on my face and makes me feel glamourous! Lucky for me, sequins are a big trend this fall!

That said, I put forward to you all my case as to why I think everyone needs to get sequins in their life!

  1. Sequins are not just for nighttime! – Y’all sequins are great for day and night. I love to rock a sequin skirt with a cute blazer or denim jacket or even as I did here with a cute chunky knit!

2. Sequins go with just about everything – As I touched on above, you can rock your fave sequin piece with anything from a tank top to leather pants or shirt!

3.You can rock sequins in all shapes sizes and pieces – If you are not really interested in wearing sequins in your clothing pieces, you can rock ‘em in your accessories baby! Scarves, purses, head bands and shoes! You have your pick of sparkly pieces!

4.Fits all seasons – Sequins are not limited to spring, summer, winter or fall, they work year round! Don’t limit yourself to a season, or just for ringing in the new year, extend the life of your sequin pieces by wearing them all year!

As you can see from my look, I decided to rock these wide leg sequin pants with a cropped knit sweater. Though I absolutely adore colour I went for a more neutral feel with this look.  I love this sweater because it gives me the versatility to play with the neckline wearing it off the shoulder or one should etc.

Also for you ladies out there like me with a long torso, this look is great as the high-waisted pants give the illusion of longer legs, and shorter torso. This cropped sweater also lends the illusion of a shorter torso and shows a little skin.

All in all this look has me feeling fall ready and on trend for the season!

And that’s the long & short of it!

Trench Coat Brigade

Trench coats are trending this season and we’re coming in hot with some of our fave trench coat looks. Follow along as we give you the deets!

Gail- happily singing in the rain

Trench Coat: ASOS Curve (sold out) similar here or here // Tshirt: Random website similar ideas here // Pants: Lane Bryant (old) similar here //

For my straight size sisters here are some options for you: Trench Coat (see Leslie’s cool option) // Pants // Tshirt

While those April showers bring May flowers don’t let those droplets rain on your fashion parade. Reach for a handy dandy trench coat to keep you warm and dry.

This cute little number is from ASOS Curve and I snagged it in a size U.S. 20.  This trench is a double-breasted style with epaulette detailing at the shoulder and combines the olive green and a plaid print which I think is so fun and original. The fabric also has a little bit a stretch but not much.

Now as a short plus size woman this trench is a little on the longer side but that’s nothing that a tailor couldn’t fix.

For some added je ne c’est quoi I added this cool tshirt which is an ode to the blockbuster Marvel Universe hit Black Panther. Suffice it to say I was gaga for this movie and had to snag this shirt! To complete this look I added these white wide leg pants and sneakers.

For my plus size beauties: Trench Coat, Trench Coat // Vest // Sweater Vest, Sweater Vest // Shirt // Pants, Pants, Pants //

Y’all! This pandemic is not ending any time soon unfortunately, and I’ve finally come to the conclusion that I’m going to start wearing my work gear rather than pajamas and/or jeans on a daily. I spent my hard-earned coin on those work-wear pieces and I know I can find ways to rock them and still be comfortable, relaxed, and look good too, and this look was the result!

I gotta admit that for a long time I was not into trench coats. I thought it was just something that could not be really fashionable or trendy (I know, what was I thinking?!). Well, my style is an ever-evolving thing, and my coat obsession took hold a few years ago and trench coats had a big part to play!

Trench coats can truly be a timeless piece, so a few years ago I decided to invest a in a good one. That was when I bought my Burberry coat. I love the classic lines and neutral colour. I took some time to figure out what length would work best for me and even deciding on which size to purchase -do I want it really fitted or a bit more relaxed, and this bad boy was the winner!

Fast-forward to present day and you’ll find me always looking for ways to reinvent pieces that I have or ways to just wear them differently. This is where the black hooded, cropped vest came in for the win! Adding this vest to the trench coat creates a whole new look! And since my Burberry trench does not have a hood, the vest provides that added protection built in! Gotta protect ma crown!:-)

For the rest of this look, I pulled out some of my former work wear and made it playful by layering those prints with fun flats. Side note, I am starting to have a hard time wearing heels (OMG!) I love my heels, but this pandemic has me in flats all the time! Thus, I will be refocusing my energies on investing in a few more flats and low-heeled shoes. More to come on that in a future post!

I just love this overall look because I am extremely comfortable, and look much more pulled together than I do in my pj’s!LOL  So, I said it before and I’ma say it again; pull out those work pieces y’all, and find ways to make them comfy and cute for your current pandemic life.

And that’s the long & short of it!
