Forget racks on racks on racks, we’re talking about prints on prints on prints. How to rock ‘em and mix ‘em! We’re here to breakdown those antiquated myths about what women, plus sized and straight size, short and tall can wear and showcase some fabulous African print looks that will leave you breathless!

Leslie’s Look

Crop top: Kaela Kay // Skirt: Kaela Kay // Shoes: Nine West (old, similar here) //

Plus sized babes we got you covered for this look! Kaela Kay caters to both plus and straight sizes so you can get this look in your perfect size!

I am the girl that loves to mix her prints and make a bold statement! The beautiful African prints are perfect for hot summer weather as they are good quality cotton and very breathable.

Now, let’s dispel some myths. People always tell me “girl you are so slim and tall everything looks great on you”. WRONG! I can, with full confidence, tell you that not everything looks good on me. For example, as I have a very slim frame, a small bosom and booty, I can drown in maxi dresses. All that material can literally take over, and sometimes, depending on the style, I can look even slimmer if there are no curves accentuated at all. So for this look, I went for a gorgeous fitted crop top designed by Kaela Kay, and flared skirt.

I love that this look enhances my curves and shows off a little skin. The mix of prints adds so much visual interest to the look, and definitely allows me to stand out from the crowd.

I elected to add printed shoes to this look to take it over the top and a bejewelled belt that further accentuates my waistline.

All in all, our bodies are unique canvases that we dress to suit our personal styles and tastes. We have the power to determine what looks best on our “canvas”. Fashion rules be damned! Where pieces that accentuate the areas of your body you like most and go from there!  Break those rules baby and have fun!

Gail’s Look

I simply do not subscribe to the idea that plus size women can’t wear vibrant prints or that petite plus size women should shy away form maxi dresses.  In  2019 we’re dressing our bodies how we want to PERIODT!

Dress: Ofuure (this dress is available to women of all sizes) // Sandals: Aldo

So when I clapped eyes on this African print max dress I knew it had my name written all over it!

This infinity style dress is worth every penny. It features two long straps that allows you to style the dress in a myriad of ways. There is an elastic band at the back of the dress to hold you in really well.

The other feature of the dress that I love in the zippered slit found at the front of the dress allowing you to show as much or as little leg as you want.

What I also love about this dress is that it was made by a talented female designer and entrepreneur living right here in Toronto named Tehilah Abakasanga. She makes it a point to offer styles for ALL WOMEN of ALL SIZES something that Leslie and I are very passionate about!

So, I finally completed my look with these gold wedge sandals that are a collaboration between Addition-Elle and Aldo. These sandals and the other shoes in the collabo feature styles like wide widths which cater to plus size women’s needs.

And that’s the long and short of it!
